Before purchasing a phone, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has asked all residents and citizens of Bangladesh to check the IMEI number. Mobile devices and smartphones that have been illegally imported, copied, or faked will be disconnected from mobile networks. From August 1, 2021, all phones imported or built-in Bangladesh must be registered in the BTRC IMEI database. All phones activated after August 1, 2021, and not in the BTRC database have already been disconnected from Bangladesh’s mobile network.

2. For IMEI verification, send an SMS to BTRC.

Type KYD space>15 Digit IMEI into your phone’s messaging option and send it to 16002.

KYD 101234567801234 is an example.

3. Wait for the BTRC verification center to respond.

You’ll get a response right away, and it’ll inform you whether it’s legal to import it or not.

On July 30, 2021, the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) announced on its official website about preventing the use of illegally imported mobile phones in Bangladesh.
