How to Get Online Police Clearance in Bangladesh

A police clearance or police clearance certificate is an official document issued by the police or government agency of a country. It is obtained through a background check to determine if the applicant has any criminal records. These records may include information on arrests, convictions, and other criminal proceedings. To obtain a police clearance, applicants are required to provide personal information and, in some cases, submit their fingerprints for a criminal record check. Additionally, applicants need to pay a specified fee for this service.

Documents Needed for a Police Clearance

  4. Two recent passport-sized photographs
  5. Any additional supporting documents requested by the police department.
  6. The biographical information and address page of the Bangladeshi passport should be attested by the Bangladesh High Commission if the application is made from abroad.
  7. The biography, address, visa, and entry/exit seal pages of a foreign passport must be verified by a Justice of the Peace in the country of one’s current residence.
  8. The primary copy of a Treasury bill valued at tk500 can be submitted to code 1-7301-0001-2681 at any Sonali Bank or Bangladesh Bank branch. Alternatively, payment can be made online through http://echallan.gov.bd/ using a debit/credit card or mobile financial services (MFS) account.

Conditions for Obtaining a Certificate of Police Clearance

To obtain a police clearance certificate, you must abide by the following terms and conditions:

The address stated on the applicant’s passport should be situated within the same metropolitan area’s jurisdiction, and the applicant must currently reside at that address.

If the applicant is living outside of Bangladesh and requires a Bangladeshi Police certificate, a relative or authorized individual may submit the application on behalf of the applicant, accompanied by certified photocopies of the passport. The certification should be carried out by officials from the respective Bangladesh Embassy/Bangladesh High Commission in the applicant’s country of residence.

If the applicant’s passport does not have an address, the current address of the applicant should be supported by a National ID Card, Birth ID Card, or a local Ward Councilor’s Certificate which has been attested by a Class one gazetted officer.

Bangladeshi citizens living abroad are required to have their passports attested by the Bangladesh High Commission in their current country of residence and upload it along with their application. Foreign nationals holding a passport from another country, who are residing abroad and seeking a police clearance certificate from Bangladesh, must have their passport attested by a Justice of Peace in their country of residence and upload it with their application.

How to Apply Online for a Police Clearance

Getting a police clearance online in Bangladesh is a straightforward process. Simply follow these simple steps:

  • First, visit Police Clearance Account Registration from your browser
  • Now register to apply for police clearance
  • You must have a valid Bangladeshi mobile number as it will be used as your Login ID
  • Now fill up the application form properly
  • You have to provide the personal details in the first page and present and permanent address on the second page of the application form
  • Subsequently, upload scanned copies of all required documents. Avoid submitting unneeded papers because they can only be 200 kb in size.
  • Make sure you gave accurate information by reviewing the data.
  • You cannot alter the application once it has been submitted, so submit the information only when you are certain about it.
  • You will reach the payment page after providing the information.
  • Afterward, choose “scan and click here to upload the challan” to submit the paid challan copy and provide the necessary data.
  • As soon as you have uploaded the challan copy, go back to the instructions page and click “finish” to access the status page.
  • At last, you will receive a notification once your police clearance is prepared.
