On the official Passport Seva website, you can apply for a passport online. All passport applications are currently processed online by the Ministry of External Affairs, therefore if you want to renew or apply for a new passport, you’ll have to go through the online application process
HOW TO NEW PASSPORT APPLICATION PROCESS
Newborns and children of Bangladeshi nationals living in Thailand or Cambodia are eligible to apply for a new passport (MRP) if they have a birth registration number (BRN).
An MRP consists of 48 pages and is valid for 5 (five) years.
The following information is required reading for new MRP applicants.

In order to receive MRP, an applicant must have one of the following documents:
A birth certificate with a 17-digit birth registration number as well as a Bangladesh National ID (NID) card is required (BRN).
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional paperwork at any time during the MRP service delivery process.

Obtaining MRP: A Step-by-Step Guide
To apply for MRP, an applicant must complete the following steps:
Step 1: First-time MRP applicants must apply online through Online Application for Bangladesh Machine Readable Passport(BGDMRP) – Home and print a copy of the completed form.
Important Note: Within 15 days of submitting an application online, an applicant must contact the Embassy to schedule an appointment; failure to do so will result in the applicant’s record being automatically removed from the system.
Step 2: Make a bank transfer to the Embassy Account to pay the relevant fee. The bank account information for the Embassy can be found here. The cost can also be paid in person at the Embassy counter with a debit/credit card or by depositing cash in the bank.
Step 3: Submit the MRP application form and all supporting documentation to the Embassy.
Please make an appointment to submit your passport application to the Embassy (by phoning the Embassy or sending an email to [email protected]).
For filing of the MRP application, taking a photograph, and giving biometric data, the applicant must come to the Embassy in person with his or her existing original passport.
To obtain MRP, the applicant must submit the following documents:
— A properly completed online MRP application;
– A photocopy of his or her national identification card or birth certificate with a 17-digit Birth Registration Number (BRN);
– Copies of the applicant’s existing Bangladesh passport information pages (valid or expired);
– If the application is a minor, copies of the information pages from the applicant’s parents’ Bangladesh passport;
A passport-size photograph (55mmx45mm). If the applicant is a child under the age of 15, parents’ photos are required to be appended to the application form. In some circumstances, any of the parents’ images will suffice.
Certification/Attestation on page-4 of the MRP application form (for the first-time applicants): Bangladesh Embassy can need to certify/attest.
Step-4: Process of Biometric Enrolment
The applicant’s fingerprints, signature on an electronic pad, and photographs will be captured at the bio-enrolment room of the Embassy. Once completed, the existing Bangladesh Passport of the applicant will be returned along with the delivery slip where the tentative date of delivery will be mentioned.
After the bio-enrolment, all data and scanned application forms along with other documents will be sent electronically to the Department of Immigration & Passport in Dhaka where, after due process, MRP will be issued. It will then be sent to the Embassy for delivery to the applicant.
Step 5: Passport delivery
The applicant will be provided a tentative delivery date for MRP after completing the enrolling process. The average processing time for express delivery and regular delivery of passports at the Department of Immigration and Passport in Dhaka is 15 days and 30 days, respectively
When the applicant’s passport is ready for delivery, the Embassy will call him or her. Applicants may contact the Embassy by email ([email protected]) or telephone on or after the projected delivery date if they have not received a call from the Embassy.
The applicant must appear to the Embassy in person with his or her old Bangladesh passport and delivery slip after receiving confirmation from the Embassy. After signing the acknowledgement of receipt, the new MRP will be handed out along with the old passport (with observation or cancellation seal).
Note: In addition to the MRP, the Embassy will send a letter to Thailand/immigration Cambodia’s office suggesting the passport holder for a visa/stay permission.
If the applicant is unable to receive the MRP in person, he or she may send a representative who must sign an authorisation form.

Bangladeshi students studying in Thailand/Cambodia will pay the following rates:
- The fees paid to the mission are only in Thai Baht.
** MRP is available at a discounted pricing for students. Students must provide a valid student ID and submit a copy of it with the application form and other documentation in order to be considered for this opportunity. A letter (with reference number) from a student’s institution can also be accepted if he or she does not have a valid student ID. If a student applicant fails to provide a valid student ID number, he or she will be charged regular fees.
MRP for a Newborn Child
